A Funeral during the
Coronavirus Pandemic
The Restrictions and Your Choices

Public Health Directions allow people regardless of their vaccination status to attend a funeral, a different Direction applies to the catered gathering following the funeral.

  • A funeral service held at an indoor venue; up to 200 people or 1 person per 2 square metres, whichever is greater.
  • A funeral service held at an outdoor space (e.g. graveside) does not have occupant density limits and contact information is not required to be collected.
  • A funeral service held at a private residence; up to 100 people – including staff.

The Pioneers Room: Burstows catering facility, is located on-site but separate from the Chapel and Funeral Home. This facility provides a private venue to meet after the funeral where the atmosphere is friendly and uplifting. No COVID-19 occupant density applies if all guests are COVID-19 double vaccinated. If any persons are unvaccinated a maximum of 20 people can attend the catered gathering. We welcome this opportunity to provide you with a safe place to talk, share your memories and help you celebrate the life of your loved one.

Please note: Everyone 16 years of age and over attending the catered gathering must check in using the Qld app and provide proof of COVID-19 double vaccination or evidence of medical exemption prior to entry to the Pioneers Room.
